Truckee Donner Public Utility District is a customer-owned electric and water utility, governed by locally elected Board of Directors, located in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains 15 miles north of Lake Tahoe in Truckee, CA and nestled in what has been named the best ski town in North America. Truckee Donner PUD provides sustainable, reliable, and high-quality water and electric services to over 13,000 electric customers and over 12,500 water customers in greater Truckee, a service area of 45.5 square miles.
The Position
The Water Operations Manager directs and coordinates the activities of the Water Department field staff engaged in the installation, maintenance, repair, replacement, and operation of the District’s water services, pump stations, transmission, distribution and storage systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination equivalent to education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform essential duties of the position would be qualifying. The list below is a representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and typical ways to obtain them.
- An Associate’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in water related sciences, management or combination of qualifying experience and education.
- Demonstrate supervisory experience in water system operation, maintenance, repair and replacement.
- Possession of California Department of Health Services Grade III Water Treatment Operator License, Grade IV Water Distribution Operator License, AWWA Cross Connection Control Program Specialist, or the ability to obtain within one year of appointment.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of water system operation and maintenance and construction standards and practices
- Thorough knowledge of water system facilities including production, transmission, distribution systems and treatment systems.
- Thorough knowledge of federal and California state water quality regulations.
- Thorough knowledge of safety standards, use of hand and power tools, heavy equipment and materials used in water system operation maintenance and construction.
- Possession of a valid Department of Motor Vehicles Class C license with a record acceptable to insurance carrier.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel and Outlook.
