Wastewater Operator-In-Training / Grade I Operator / Grade II Operator

Range 19 ($23.63 – $29.51) / Range 28 ($29.51 – $36.85) / Range 32 ($32.57 – $40.68)

POSITION 

The Helendale CSD is recruiting for one full time position for a Grade II Operator or Grade I Operator or Operator-In-Training for the Helendale Wastewater Treatment Plant. Under general supervision, performs the duties assigned to Treatment Plant staff including operations, controls, and maintenance of the Treatment Plant, Lift Stations, and Collection system; demonstrates full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with the assigned duties; performs all other related duties as required. Grade I and Grade II Operators will be required to participate in On-call rotation and could be required to work weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

·        Operates, monitors, and maintains all plant equipment including but not limited to pumps, valves, plumbing, screens, blowers, and flow controls

·        Reads and interprets meters, gauges, charts, engineer drawings, and schematics

·        Performs daily inspections of all plant equipment and operations, makes adjustments to process controls and notifies the Plant Manager of any operational problems and changes

·        Ensures plant is free of safety hazards per state and federal regulations

·        Collects samples on all plant processes and Monitoring Wells

·        Collects and records plant data and ensures all logs are filled out daily

·        Cleans and performs upkeep on bar screens, clarifiers, t-filters, and contact basins

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Operator-In-Training

·        Must have successfully completed or are currently enrolled in one or more Wastewater classes

·        A Combination of education, experience, skills, and abilities necessary for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

·        High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Grade I / II Operator

·        Experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of a wastewater system and/or facility.

·        High School Diploma or equivalent

 

Licenses Requirements

Operator-In-Training

·        Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable to operate District vehicles

·        Must obtain an Operator-in-Training certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board within six (6) months of employment

·        Must obtain a Grade I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by SWRCB within twenty-four (24) months of employment

 Grade I Operator

·        Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable to operate District vehicles

·        Must be in possession of a Current and Valid Grade I or higher Wastewater Operator Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board

Grade II Operator

·        Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable to operate District vehicles

·        Must be in possession of a Current and Valid Grade II or higher Wastewater Operator Certificate issued by the California State Water Resources Control Board
