Full-Time
Application Deadline: 10/31/24

The Agri-Business and Water Council is a not-for-profit trade association, representing the entire Arizona agricultural community from ditch bank to dinnerplate. ABWC was established in 1978 to respond to proposed water legislation and to serve as the state’s reclamation representative to the National Water Resources Association. Our members are comprised of growers, ranchers, suppliers of equipment, seed, chemicals and services, attorneys, agricultural processors, financiers of agribusiness enterprises, commodity groups, electrical and irrigation districts and universities. Our mission is to represent irrigated agriculture and agribusiness by working to promote and protect water resources in the state of Arizona and to actively educate, support, and promote all aspects of water, agriculture and agribusiness.

We are looking for an Executive Director. The Executive Director is the face of the ABWC and represents Arizona irrigated agriculture in both local and national venues. An effective applicant should be knowledgeable and well informed on water issues within the State of Arizona. Have a strong background and knowledge of Arizona’s water resource profile and the rules, policies and practices that result in Arizona’s water management framework. Such knowledge would be key in effective engagement on behalf of ABWC among the Arizona water community and State and Federal elected leadership.

The Executive Director is responsible for the successful management of the organization as directed by the officers and executive committee of ABWC and reports to the President and will have operational responsibility for staff, programs and events. The Executive Director is also responsible for carrying out the strategic plans of the executive committee to further the mission of the organization.

Successful candidates will have strong interpersonal and communications skills, conflict resolution qualities as well as proven leadership abilities.
